How SpoolSeeker Works
SpoolSeeker automatically collects filament product data from vendor stores on a daily schedule. Here's what happens behind the scenes, and what that means for you as a buyer.
1. Products are checked regularly
Each day, SpoolSeeker fetches current product listings and prices directly from vendor stores. When a price changes, the old price is recorded in the product's price history so you can see trends over time.
2. Stale products are hidden
If a product hasn't been seen in a recent scrape, it's hidden from search results, deals lists, and the homepage. This prevents showing products that may no longer be available or accurately priced. You can still access a stale product's detail page directly — it will show a warning that the data may be outdated.
3. Prices and availability can change
SpoolSeeker shows the price from the most recent scrape. Prices at vendors change frequently — sometimes within hours. The price you see on SpoolSeeker may not match the current price at the vendor's site. Always confirm the final price and availability before completing your purchase.
4. SpoolSeeker is for comparison, not checkout
SpoolSeeker does not sell filament. It does not process orders, handle payments, manage shipping, or process returns. When you click a product link, you are taken to the vendor's site where all purchasing happens. SpoolSeeker has no control over vendor pricing, inventory, checkout terms, or shipping policies.
5. All outbound links are affiliate links
All outbound product links are affiliate links. When you click through to a vendor and make a purchase, SpoolSeeker may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate commissions help keep the site free and running. They do not affect which products are shown, how prices are ranked, or how data is collected. Read the full affiliate disclosure →
Price per kg explained
SpoolSeeker calculates a price-per-kg figure for every product. This makes it easier to compare a 1 kg spool at $20 against a 5 kg spool at $80 — both cost $16/kg, but the 5 kg spool saves you money on a per-unit basis. Price per kg is calculated from the listed price and spool weight.
Tip: Use the price-per-kg sort in Search to quickly find the most cost-effective filament for your material and brand preferences.
